IBM Z Development and Test Environment Personal Edition - Buy and Download

About me

Javier Fernández García - Tecnico Sistemas IBM Mainframe z/OS
Since September 2018, I work as z/OS System Programmer (IBM Mainframe) in the areas: Operating System, Storage and Security (with RACF).

I worked as z/OS Systems Operator from 2015 to 2018, but I have been learning z/OS on my own since 2011.

In 2011, I attended a complete z/OS Operator course that was given for free in Madrid. I learned a lot because I had an Argentinean teacher who was very good at teaching. Since then I am hooked on the Mainframe.

In 2012, I attended another course aboutCobol/CICS/DB2 applications development in the same center, but I prefer the "systems" area.

z/OS seems to me a very interesting environment because it is "difficult" to learn. I like to keep learning new things to improve my skills and to teach other people.

I started this website in October 2015. I have always had two goals: to continue learning and teaching others and about z/OS.

Now, in August 2020, the appearance of the blog is updated and the content will be in Spanish and English, so I can teach what I learn to more people.

When I started working with z/OS, I realized how difficult it is to move from Operator to System Technician.  What usually happens is that to move to a "higher" position, you need experience, but if you don't work in that position, you can't gain experience!

Therefore, this site also was created as a way to keep learning. I think it has been key in my development and will continue to be so.

I am grateful to all those people who help me to keep learning and teaching.
